Michael Albrechtsen was born in Bountiful, Utah in 1962. From a very young age, Michael felt a connection with the outdoors. His love of nature led him to missionary work that allowed him to travel to other countries. Michael always sketched his surrounding environment, but it took a few years for him to fully immerse himself in painting and become a full-time artist. Michael received his Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1992 and his Master of Fine Arts in 1994 from Utah State University. After college, he was recruited by the Hallmark Corporation to create figurative and landscape cards for their masculine line; he accepted the position, but soon realized he did not want to continue in the corporate world. With the encouragement of his family, Michael pursued his own art. At the University of Utah, Michael took numerous courses in technical drafting, which taught him about three-dimensional renderings, line drawings, and shading. His technical education has directly affected his style of painting. It trained Michael to observe every detail and strive for picturesque accuracy. Today, Michael Albrechtsen resides in Texas.
