In 1949, Sung Sam Park was born in Korea. Park started to paint at the age of twelve and his talent was quickly recognized. He attended Jung Ang University and the university’s former president, Byen Si-Jin, accepted the responsibility as Sam’s private art teacher and mentor. Once Park graduated, he traveled to France where he studied painting.
Sam Park returned briefly to Korea in 1984 to participate in the art competition for the 1988 Seoul Olympic Games. With over two thousand participants, Park won and received an Olympic Gold Medal. Park returned to France, where he spent the next fourteen years painting. He also briefly lived in Greece and Cyprus during that time. The French Impressionist style clearly inspired Park, which is reflected in his work. He continued to evolve his vision of hyper-realism and impressionism while living in Europe. During 1994, Sam Park moved to the coast of California in the United States, where he continues to live.
