Marilyn Simandle, a naïve Californian, knew at an early age that she wanted to be an artist. She watched her mother, who was a musician and painter, and started to paint watercolors by the age of six. In 1969, she earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from San Jose State University.
Being an avid traveler and photographer, Marilyn uses her photographs as inspiration to create a composition. In her paintings, she tries to express her own artist philosophy of interplaying light and its effect on architecture and the surrounding environment.
Over the next fifteen years, Simandle shared her knowledge and talent by teaching art and conducting workshops. She now resides in the Santa Ynez Valley where she explores her passions of painting, gardening, and horseback riding.
