Suljakov, Vadik

In 1960, Vadik Suljakov was born in the cultural heart of Moscow. He comes from an intellectually rich family with generations of artists. Vadik was home-schooled with painting tutors and then continued with Russia's rigid, formal art education until the age of twenty. He continued to study at the Moscow First Art School and then took apprenticeships at the Moscow Art Group and Moscow Graphic Art Committee.

Suljakov left Russia in 1990, because artists were expected to make their artwork political. He lived in New York City for a year before relocating to sunny southern California. Suljakov emphatically states, "I came to America when the time was right, when I had enough experience to express my art and thought on canvas." Now, Vadik could finally paint his memories of Europe on to canvas.

Vadik Suljakov paints soft, flowing compositions filled with texture and depth tied together with attractive color schemes. He strives to keep a balance of simple style and a sophisticated composition. Suljakov has enhanced his vibrant compositions over the years, which has lead to the achievement of his trademark style.
